Weight Loss Pills — Xenical Generic and Lida Daidaihua: Two Mechanisms, Two Profiles

Medically reviewed by Dr. Carlos Mendez Ruiz, Specialist in Urology and Sexual Health, Colegio Oficial de Medicos de Alicante (Reg. No.: 03-45678) — Updated January 2026

In this category you will find two of the most widely used pharmacological treatments for weight management in Spain: Xenical Generic (orlistat 120mg), which blocks the absorption of one third of the fat you eat, and Lida Daidaihua, an herbal appetite suppressant. They work through completely different mechanisms — understanding which corresponds to your profile is key to getting results. Discreet delivery across Spain in 4–7 days.

Two Products, Two Completely Different Mechanisms

Xenical Generic (Orlistat)

Lipase inhibitor — peripheral action

Where it acts

Digestive system — small intestine

Mechanism

Blocks the pancreatic lipase enzyme — fats are not digested and are eliminated in faeces without being absorbed

Result

~30% of consumed fat is not absorbed

Effect on appetite

None direct — only reduces calories absorbed

Active ingredient

Orlistat 120mg (AEMPS approved drug)

Average weight loss

5–10% of initial weight in 6–12 months

Ideal if you eat too much fat and need metabolic control

Lida Daidaihua

Appetite suppressant — central action

Where it acts

Central nervous system — satiety sensation

Mechanism

Sida Cordifolia extract and other herbal components that reduce appetite and may boost metabolism

Result

Reduced hunger and total caloric intake

Effect on appetite

Direct — reduces the feeling of hunger and cravings

Composition

Herbal formula — vegetable capsules

Use profile

People with high appetite or difficulty controlling intake

Ideal if the main problem is constant hunger and cravings

Lida Daidaihua

Xenical Generic

How Orlistat Works — The Mechanism Nobody Explains Visually

1

You eat

You consume a meal containing fat — triglycerides

2

Orlistat acts

Orlistat binds to pancreatic lipase in the small intestine and inactivates it

3

Undigested fat

Without active lipase, 30% of triglycerides cannot be broken down into absorbable fatty acids

4

Eliminated

Unabsorbed fat is excreted in faeces — visible as oily spots

Important: Orlistat does NOT burn fat already stored in the body. It acts on the fats you consume in each meal. If you eat a low-fat diet, the effect is minimal — and oily stools are a sign that the medication is working correctly.

Realistic Expectations — What Medications Can and Cannot Do

With pharmacological treatment you CAN achieve...
  • 5–10% reduction of initial weight in 6–12 months
  • Improvement of metabolic parameters (cholesterol, blood sugar)
  • Pharmacological support that makes it easier to maintain a diet
  • Reduction of cardiovascular risk associated with obesity
Without diet and exercise you CANNOT expect...
  • Weight loss without dietary changes
  • Permanent results without changing habits
  • Elimination of already-stored fat (Orlistat does not act on deposits)
  • Losing 10 kg in a month — marketing figures are exaggerated

Our Weight Control Products

Xenical Generic (Orlistat 120mg)

Pancreatic lipase inhibitor — blocks the absorption of approximately one third of fat consumed in each meal. First clinical choice for obesity (BMI ≥ 30) and overweight with risk factors (BMI ≥ 27).

Dose: 1 capsule of 120mg with each main meal containing fat (breakfast, lunch, dinner) — maximum 3 capsules/day

Onset of effect: First effects visible within 24–48 hours. Weight results: 2–4 weeks

Lida Daidaihua

Herbal capsules with appetite-suppressing effect based on plant extracts. Reduces the feeling of hunger and cravings, making it easier to reduce total caloric intake without acting on fat absorption.

Use: Complement to a low-calorie diet for people with difficulty controlling appetite

Origin: Herbal formula from traditional Chinese medicine, widely used

Frequently Asked Questions about Pharmacological Weight Control

Can I combine Xenical and Lida Daidaihua? In principle they act through different mechanisms and there is no known pharmacological interaction between them. However, we do not recommend any combination without medical supervision — the side effects of both may add up.

Are oily spots on underwear with Xenical normal? Yes — they are a sign that the medication is working. Unabsorbed fat is excreted in the faeces. Reducing fat intake to less than 30% of daily calories minimises this effect.

How long can Xenical be taken? Clinically studied for up to 2 years. Discontinue at 12 weeks if less than 5% of initial body weight has been lost.

Does Xenical affect vitamin absorption? Yes — orlistat reduces absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K). A daily multivitamin at bedtime is recommended (separated from orlistat by at least 2 hours).
